One last camping trip in the States had to be fit in before leaving for Africa. This secret location in the Eastern Oregon desert is a place that most refer to as dirty, desolate or too far from civilization, which is what makes it so beautiful. My family has been camping here since before I was born and for me, when camping comes up in conversation, visions of this deserted landscape are what pop into my head with fondness. Maybe my love for places such as this, with lack of civilization, things to discover, and the possibility of harshness is part of the fuel that drives my desire to visit places like Africa. We enjoyed spending time with family in a place special to all of us, where we were able to explore and appreciate the history and life around our favorite camp site.
Keep in touch when you can. Love to hear about your journey.
I’m late to the website but I will be following more closely from now on! I love old cemeteries (maybe a little morbid) and the one in the picture looks like a place I would love to explore.
